Notes
Oakwood was the home of the McCutcheons in Plainfield, New Jersey, where Folinsbee went to live in 1906 (it was later the home of "Diamond Jim" Brady). This landscape, painted while he was studying in Plainfield with Jonas Lie, is the earliest known landscape by Folinsbee. The painting was originally owned by Katherine McCutcheon Cowdin, a cousin, who was a leading art patron in New York and California.
