A study for a larger work, Perseverance Mill, JFF.987, depicting the Perseverance textile mills in Manayunk, Pennsylvania, now part of greater Philadelphia. The painting was exhibited at The Phillips Mill Association in its spring 1930 show as Tow Path (#10).
