Notes

Folinsbee's second daughter, Joan, was born in 1919. Baby Joan is a preparatory study for Sleeping Baby (Joan), JFF.189, that the artist exhibited at the National Academy of Design later that year, and and at McClees Gallery in Philadelphia in 1920.

The inscription with the title Morning on the River suggests that Folinsbee painted over a sketch, perhaps catalogue no. 1270, an 8 x 10 sketch titled Morning on the River, which is currently unlocated.
