Received the Carnegie Prize ($500) at the National Academy's 96th Annual, and was awarded the Bronze Medal and the William A. Clarke Prize at the Corcoran. The New York Times remarked in its review that Jersey Waterfront conveys "again the poetry of the common scene" and "artistic vision. It is not one of [his] best canvases--his best is now on view at a private gallery--but it shows a flexibility of technique lacking in his early work, and his characteristic sincerity and delight in muted color."
